When Guild Wars was down for 6 hours, I decided to search for another game. I came across maple story, which looked pretty fun. So, I DLed it, and started playing. Basically its a 2D side scrolling game, and its quite fun. You start on a noob island and when you get to the main island you have to journey to a city to be a class. You have to be lvl 8 to be a mage and lvl 10 for warrior/ranger/rogue. I'm currently level 13, and I seem to like it so far

Its NOT better then GW, but its something to do when your bored of GW.

Yeah, my cousin plays Guild Wars... He's in what, 4th grade? Don't go bashing a game like that. It's just not cool. If you're going to critisize something, do it intelligently...

Anyway, I happen to play Maple Story whenever I need a break from Guild Wars and/or programming... I currently have a level 31 Bandit on the Khaini server, as well as a level 10 Mage and a couple of other basic characters that I never use...

And yes. They are very Firefox racist. Scumbags...

But that's what integrated IE tab support extensions are for, now isn't it?

Another good 'filler' is the manga golf game, Albatross18. This game is amazing. I never thought unreal golf could be SO much fun. You can get speacial items, potions, caddies...clothes...FAN-DABI-DOZI!

MAN I used to play that game alll the time but when factions came out i came back. I have like lvl 90's but the koreans own in that game (im korean) If u look up the ranked 1 character it is like lvl 250 last i checked. They are taking control of every mmo lol

It's a grindfest if you're into that sort of thing. Not really fun after the first few times. :|

My thoughts exactly.

Character progression is rather limited for each profession, it takes forever to level, regeneration takes too long; It was just all too grindy for me so I quit.

Playing with friends not intended to fight the same monsters as you is rather difficult as well.

From what I understand, it doesn't get much better after class changes either.

Also, the fame/defame system in Maple taught me why any kind of such thing is a generally bad idea in any game >_>

If you enjoy it, more power to you. It's an effective time sink, and the time you spend sitting around regenerating early on is easily used to relax and chat with people.

Also, I've seen, but haven't played, the golf game. It looked somewhat interesting, but I'm not a huge fan of golf, and I don't really enjoy downloading things, so I passed.

Well, yes. BUT, it has some redeeming qualities...you get to make cute, wee manga characters. When you progress/win in the game you receive rewards, such as ingame currencey called 'Pang' or gifts and items to use ingame.

It's highly addictive only because it's the cutest game in the world...and sometimes requires a fair amount of skill :P

And as I previously said...I NEVER thought I'd like it and even the most hardcore GW players that I know have been hooked on it at some time.

is soooo gay after level 10 it takes u a million hours to gain levels.... if u are actually past level 50... u officially have no life or u have a million hour day scedule

You sure you're talking about Maple Story? I made it from level 10 to level 25 in two hours or so, with a "lunch break" in there somewhere. It'd only take forever and a day to level up if you choose to stick around the newbie areas beating on things you can kill in one or two hits...
